ReDigiOr - Recovering and Digitalizing the UniOr cultural heritage and its entangled histories: the Bonelli Archive is a research project that, starting from the systematisation and analysis of the Fondo Bonelli (FB), an archive material that has not been catalogued and only partially investigated, aims to lay the foundations for long-term research into the origins of Turkology and, in a broader sense, of Italian Orientalism and its connections with European and Mediterranean academic and cultural circles. The research within the PRA focuses on the systematisation and digitisation of the personal archive of Luigi Bonelli, professor and holder of the first chair of Turcology established in Italy, entrusted to him in 1892 by our university - at the time the Royal Oriental Institute - of which he was also Director between 1914 and 1916.
The first objective of the research is therefore to systematise the documents in order to start digitising and cataloguing the Bonelli archive.
Starting from this work, ReDigiOr plans to pursue the following objectives:
1. Reconstitute part of the archival heritage of the Orientale
2. Trace the origins of Italian Turkology within a national and international context and investigate its connections with the political and social framework
3. To contribute to the research and debate on Digital Humanities and in particular on the use of digital methods and tools in Ottoman and Turkish studies.

CEST - Consortium for European Symposia on Turkey
- The Consortium for European Symposia on Turkey works to advance the field of Turkish studies in
Europe and provide opportunities for young scholars through academic events that promote idea exchange, visibility, and networking. In 2014, CEST began organising annual conferences, hosted at rotating member universities. In 2021
CEST inaugurated a summer school aimed at providing young scholars with the tools they need to
succeed in academia. The project is funded primarily by Stiftung Mercator, with additional contributions from the Swedish
Institute, Stockholm University, and other CEST institutions.
