28-31 March: I attended the International Conference "Translation and contemporary challenges" - al-Maglis al-A'la in Cairo – with a paper entitled "Muqatarahat bi-sha'n tagdid al-lugah al-'arabiyyah min khilal maqalat tatanawal mawdu' al-targiamah fi magiallatay al-Muqtataf wa al-Hilal" (Proposals for the update of the Arabic language. Analysis of articles covering the subject of translation in the journals al-Muqtataf and al-Hilal).

7-11 March: Sanaa, Faculty of Languages of the University of Sanaa – I attended the round table on the subject al-Adab al-‘arabi fi Urubba (Arabic literature in Italy), with a paper entitled Dawr dur al-nashr al-italiyyah fi targiamat al-riwàyah al-‘arabiyyah (The role of Italian publishers in the translation of the Arabic novel).

25 January: I attended the Conference "Literary interaction between East and West – the role of translation", which took place in Cairo, organized by the Italian Cultural Centre on the occasion of the 39th edition of the International Expo of the book in Cairo.

I attended the International Conference al-Mahragian al-Mutawassiti li-kitabàt al-mar'ah- Festival Méditerranéen des Ecrits de Femmes, which took place in Rabat (Morocco), from April 19 to 21 2006, with a paper about Nisà' fi al-manfà yufakkirnà fi al-watan al-mafqùd: riwayat "al-Mahbùbàt" li-l'kàtibah al-'iràqiyyah 'Aliya Mamdùh (Women in exile think of their lost homeland: the novel "al-Mahbùbàt" by Iraqui writer 'Aliya mamdùh).

I attended the Seminar "Cultural dialogue between Italy and Egypt during the centuries: agreements and discordances", organized by the Italian Institute of Culture of Cairo in collaboration with the Institute of Italian Encyclopedia founded by Giovanni Treccani with the University of Naples “L’Orientale”, (within the III edition of the Week of Italian Language in the World, promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry for Italians in the World, in collaboration with Accademia della Crusca (Florentine literary academy) and under the Patronage of the President of the Republic, with a paper on The translation of Italian works in Egyptian literary journals till the eve of the II World War (University Ain Shams, Faculty of al-Alsun, Cairo, 20 October 2003.)

INVOLVEMENT IN RESEARCH PROJECTS:

- Collaboration to “Project of Computerized Linguistics Bilingual Corpus Bilingue italiano-arabo within the Operative program “Linguistics” Cluster 18 of the MURST directed by the Department of Asian Studies of the Orientale University Institute of Naples (2001-2002-2003).

- Collaboration with research 60% (Department of Arab and African Studies) for the counting and drawing up of file cards of articles, drawn from Arabian literary journals, directed by Prof. Isabella Camera d’Afflitto (1992-1993, 1993-1994, 1995-1996)

I am a member of the IPO (Istituto per l’Oriente - or Institute for the Orient - C.A. Nallino of Rome, of SeSaMo (Società per gli Studi sul Medio Oriente - or Society for the Studies on the Middle East -, and of the UEAI (Union Européenne Des Arabisants et Islamisants).


Since February 21 2006 I have been involved in tutorship activities within the research doctorate in Geopolitics and Cultures of the Mediterranean, at the Italian Institute of Human Sciences of the University Federico II of Naples.

Since May 9 2006 I am a member, in a personal capacity, of the Teaching body of the research doctorate in "Studies on the Near East and Maghreb. Cultural specificities and intercultural relations", Department of Studies and Researches on Africa and Arab Countries, at the University of Naples "L'Orientale".
