Associate Professor and Chair of History of East Asia, and of History and Civilisation of Far East Asia, Department of Asian Studies, Faculty of Letters, “L’Orientale” University of Napoli, Piazza San Domenico Maggiore 12, 80134 Napoli, Italy
Dr. Patrizia Carioti is Associate Professor and Chair of History of East Asia and of History and Civilisation of Far East Asia at “L’Orientale” University of Naples. In 1994 6th September: she took her Ph.D: Dissertation in Civilisations of Far East Asia, History of China, at “L’Orientale” University of Naples, Thesis: Zheng Chenggong.
Her field of studies concerns the International Context of Far East Asia, and focuses on the XVI-XVIII Centuries Maritime History of China and Japan, their historical intercourse, their relations with the Europeans. She spent more than ten years abroad, researching in Japan (University of Tokyo), China (Xiamen University), Taiwan (Academia Sinica), and in The Netherlands (Leiden University). Among her publications: Cina e Giappone sui mari, nei secoli XVI e XVII (“China and Japan at sea, in the XVI and XVII Centuries”), Napoli, ESI, 2006; her book Zheng Chenggong [Serie Minor], Napoli, 1995, has been translated also in Chinese: Bai Di [Patrizia Carioti], Zheng Chenggong, Guangxi 1997; just published: (co-author) La via della porcellana. La VOC e la Cina, (The Porcelain Route: The VOC and China”) Genova, 2010.
