Professor of Private Law at the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Naples L'Orientale where she teaches "Private Law of the Digital Economy" and "Data and Artificial Intelligence Law", Roberta Montinaro is a Jean Monnet Professor and the Scientific Coordinator of the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence 'AI-CoDED (Artificial Intelligence and Communication in a Digitalised European Democracy; https://www.ai-coded.unior.it/)'. From 2020 to 2023 she has also been the scientific coordinator of the Jean Monnet Module "DiCIT - Digital Citizenship in the European Union" (http://www.jmdicitunior.eu/homesite/1/1/home-page.html). She is a member of the Academic Board of the National PhD in Artificial Intelligence (https://www.phd-ai.it/en), a speaker and scientific coordinator at national and international seminars and conferences, and a referee and member of scientific committees of prestigious Italian and international law journals. She is a fellow of academic associations and research networks, including the European Law Institute and the Associazione dei Civilisti Italiani, FIDMA (Fairness in Digital Markets and Artificial Intelligence https://fidma.org/) and ReCEPL (Research Centre in European Private Law https://www.unisob.na.it/ateneo/c008.htm). She has received national and EU research grants, including PRIN 2022 “Digital market and consumer protection” (Italian Ministry of University – P2022YLAF5). Roberta Montinaro has been a visiting professor and researcher at foreign universities and has authored numerous articles in Italian and foreign law journals, as well as several books and contributions to collective publications. Her main research interests include trust law, product liability, consumer law, data law and artificial intelligence regulation.
