PALERMO Silvia

SILVIA PALERMO is Associate Professor of German Language and Linguistics at the University of Naples 'L'Orientale'. She is member of the Organising Committee of the Ph.D. Programme in "Studi Letterari, linguistici e comparati" in the same University.
2006-2019 she worked as a lecturer of German Language and Translation in the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literatures at the University of Salerno.
She is a member of the Italian Association of German Language and Literature (AIG), of the Internationale Vereinigung für Germanistik (IVG), of the Società di Linguistica Italiana (SLI) and of the Società Italiana di Linguistica Applicata (SItLA).
Her research regards first of all The Linguistic Landscape in German speaking areas; then the contrastive analysis of Italian and German Morphology (she was part of the international research project Eurogr@mm (IDS- Institut fur Deutsche Sprache-Mannheim, whose aim is the study and description of German Grammar), but includes also Translation (mainly Literary Translation) and Theory of Translation. Besides her activity in the field of research she currently translates from German and English.
Among her publications the textbook Il paesaggio delle valli. Il Linguistic landscape dell'Alto Adige /Südtirol (2022), the Italian translation of E.S. Ozdamar’s Mutterzunge [La lingua di mia madre] (2007), of H. Wolfram's Die Germanen [I germani] (2005], of F. Graf (ed.), Einleitung in die lateinische Philologie [Introduzione alla filologia Latina] (2003). Recently the Italian Translation of E.S. Özdamar' s Perikizi. Ein Traumspiel/Perikizi.Un Sogno (2016).
