Research fields

My research is oriented towards the study of theatre in its contemporary dimension, meaning by this term what has originated since the end of the 19th century. I have investigated this field through studies dedicated in particular to staging, the codes of the avant-garde (old and new), the scenic transformation of the dramaturgical dimension, and theories of directing. It is a research project that has developed over the years through monographic publications, essays and working groups that I have directed at national and university level. It is a work that has had several opportunities for international outreach. The most continuous one was being part of the founding group of EASTAP (European Association of Studies on Theatre and Performance). Another project moment of my research consists of co-editing the online open access journal ‘Acting Archives Review’ (Fascia A), a periodical publication specifically dedicated to the study of acting in its different forms and historical moments.
