GIORDANO ANNACLAUDIA

Annaclaudia Giordano is Adjunct Professor of Dutch Language in the Department of Literary, Linguistic and Comparative Studies at the University of Naples “L’Orientale”.

Her research focuses on modern and contemporary Dutch literature, particularly on migration, identity, interculturality, and literary translation.

She holds an MA in Modern Languages, Literatures and Translation Studies (Sapienza University of Rome) and a PhD in Literary, Linguistic and Comparative Studies (University of Naples “L’Orientale”). Her doctoral research examined the works of the Moroccan-Dutch authors Naima El Bezaz and Rachida Lamrabet, exploring the relationship between literature and migration.
From 2021 to 2024, as a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Naples “L’Orientale”, she researched Vincent van Gogh’s correspondence, analysing it as a literary document and a form of self-representation.
She is currently engaged in the international research project Anne Frank’s Footprints, focusing on the theatrical adaptations of The Diary of Anne Frank. Within this project, she undertook a research visit to the Anne Frank Stichting in Amsterdam in April 2026.

Since 2022, she has also worked as teaching assistant at the 't Kofschip School, which offers Dutch language and culture courses to students aged 3 to 18.

Since 2024, she has served as President of the MediterraNed Foundation, a network of Dutch language lecturers affiliated with universities and language schools across the Mediterranean region (Italy, Portugal, Spain and Turkey). She also coordinated the 2024 and 2025 editions of the Zomercursus MediterraNed, an international summer course in Dutch language and culture.
Since 2025, she has served as a board member of the International Association for Dutch Studies (IVN) and member of the Impulsregeling Neerlandistiekpublicaties Committee of the Dutch Language Union (Taalunie).
