BEVILLE AOIFE

Aoife Beville obtained her PhD from the University of Naples L’Orientale in 2022 with a thesis entitled: Telling Tales in Shakespeare’s Drama: A Pragma-Stylistic Approach to Lying – recently published as a monograph in Paolo Loffredo Editore’s Betwixt series. She is an adjunct lecturer in English Language and Linguistics at the University of Naples L’Orientale. She has presented papers at TaCo (Taboo Conference) 2022, the ESSE (European Society for the Study of English) 2022 Conference and the PALA (Poetics and Language Association) 2021, 2023 and 2024 Annual Conferences. Her recent publications focus on multimodal stylistics (“Salvator Rosa and Ann Radcliffe: A Study in Style”, in Reception Studies and Adaptation:A Focus on Italy, Cambridge Scholars Publishing, 2020), the pragmatics of deceit (Plausible Obedience: Female Strategies of Deception in Shakespeare’s Problem Comedies, Linguae &, 24(2), 2023; Telling Tales: in Shakespeare’s Drama: A Pragmastylistic Approach to Lying, Loffredo Editore, 2022) and the pragmastylistic analysis of persuasion in religious discourse (Mocking the Devil: Persuasive Irony in C. S. Lewis's Screwtape Letters, Anglistica AION 27(1), 2024).
