Abstract:
This book is a the result of a language documentation projectr on two undescribed languages of Kalimantan-Indonesia. It is a collection of stories presenting the
shared local knowledge, cultural traditions, legends, moral tales, and simple
recollections of daily life of Kenyah people. The aim of the book is to provide a
written record of these stories as well as the languages themselves, which had
previously never been written down. Without entering into an indepth analysis of
the role and importance of studies of folktales and oral literatures, and overlooking
theoretical issues and interpretation of those stories, this contribution is mainly
meant to document a language and give the community access to a product of their
own culture to pass on to future generations.
