Abstract:
This article describes briefly the evolution of foreign immigration
in Italy that at 2010 showed a migratory pressure by 7,5% of the
total population, above the EU average. A phenomenon that has
transformed over the past three decades, the demographic and socio-
cultural aspects of the Italian country. The presence of migrants
in Italy is a set composed of multiple aspects, each of which weaves
ties more or less solid with several Italian places. Considering migration
from the point of emergency means not taking into account the
most important aspects of the transformation of the Italian territory.
This phenomenon affects in particular urban contexts where the foreign
presence is denser than in other places and more visible in
terms of work and social reproduction. Among the intercultural bet
for future generations, the uncertainty dictated by the economic crisis
and the risk xenophobic, there is growing need to have a new
look on places transformation, the exercise of which the geographical
tools can be a rich resource.
