EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES
Upon completion of this course, students must demonstrate knowledge
of the history of Spanish literature from the 18th to the 21st centuries, of Spanish and European history during that period, and
the ability to speak on literary topics in Spanish.
ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
The course aims to provide students with the knowledge and methodological tools necessary
for the following activities: reading, textual analysis and critical commentary in Spanish. Students must
demonstrate knowledge of and an understanding of the issues relating to the history of Spanish literature during the
period in question, be able to situate authors and works within their historical and literary context, and be able to carry out a critical analysis of the
texts included in the syllabus.
ADDITIONAL EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES
Independence of judgement:
By the end of the course, students must be able to independently undertake the comprehension and
critique of a Spanish literary text from the period under consideration.
Communication skills:
By the end of the course, students must be able to express the contents
of the syllabus in question fluently in Spanish.
Learning skills:
Knowledge of the history of Spanish literature from the 18th century to the present day provides students with the skills.
PREREQUISITES
It is essential that students, before commencing the course, have a
thorough knowledge of Spanish history and literature from its origins up to and including the year 1600. It is also important to have
knowledge of European history and literature from the same period. In order to engage with the course content,
students must have an intermediate level of Spanish.
PREREQUISITES
To sit the Spanish Literature III examination, students must have passed the examinations in Spanish Language I; Spanish
Literature I; Spanish Language II and Spanish Literature II.
