Course Objectives

EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES

The aim of the course is to provide a basic knowledge for understanding Art from the end of the Nineteenth Century to the present. Emphasis will be given to the radical transformation of the artistic language promoted by the Historical Avant-gardes and the Neo-Avant-gardes.


ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING

The student must demonstrate knowledge of the topics related to the course program in its entirety; have an organic vision of the bibliographical materials provided; know how to contextualize the artistic movements and the main protagonists; be able to analyze works of art, identifying their formal, stylistic and technical-material characteristics.


FURTHER EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES

Autonomy of judgment:

It will be appreciated the ability to discuss the contents of the program by proposing transversal connections between different works and artists.

Communication skills:

It will be appreciated clarity, mastery in the presentation and the use of appropriate terminology.

Learning skills:

More than the mnemonic knowledge of the program, it is hoped that students will be able to apply with critical familiarity the methodological and epistemological tools used during the course.


Course Prerequisites

No prerequisites are required.


Teaching Methods

The teaching activity includes lectures supported by image and video projections, readings of critical texts, and interaction with the class. Visits to city institutions dedicated to contemporary art and major exhibition events are also planned.


Assessment Methods

The exam is an oral test. The grading system is expressed out of thirty.

Evaluation criteria: The evaluation will be determined by the knowledge of the program, the completeness of the information, the fluency in the presentation, the use of appropriate language
