Obiettivi Formativi

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
Students are expected to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the main historical, cultural, religious, literary, and sociolinguistic issues relating to Southeast Asia, with particular emphasis on Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines, while also developing a broader awareness of other countries in the region.
Building on the knowledge acquired throughout the course, students should be able to critically discuss and analyze historical, literary, religious, and sociolinguistic developments in Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines. They should also be able to engage in informed and well-structured discussions of these topics, drawing connections across different national and regional contexts.
ADDITIONAL EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES
Independent Judgment and Learning Skills:
By the end of the course, students will be able to read, understand, and critically synthesize academic articles and selected sources related to the topics covered in the course. They will also have developed the critical skills necessary to identify and independently locate additional materials, enabling them to further explore specific topics of interest and pursue independent learning.

Prerequisiti

There are no specific prerequisites for this course. However, a general knowledge of Southeast Asia would be beneficial and would help students follow the course more effectively.

Metodi didattici

The course combines lectures, seminars, and interactive class discussions, encouraging both critical thinking and active student participation.

Verifica Apprendimento

Assessment consists of an oral examination based on open-ended questions, preceded by an individual or group presentation delivered at the end of the course. The same assessment method applies to both attending and non-attending students.
