Giorgio Cuzzelli is a retired Brigadier General of the Italian Army. He teaches International Relations, Security and Strategic Studies in academic institutions in Italy and abroad. As a junior officer in the Alpine Infantry, in the '80s and early '90s he served for 15 years with the Italian contingent of NATO's Allied Command Europe Mobile Force (Land) (AMF-L). As a senior staff officer, from the late '90s he worked in Rome, Italy and in the United States. From 2010 he was posted to NATO, first in Italy and later in Belgium. During his career he commanded national and multinational units from platoon- to regimental level in Italy and abroad, and was deployed on operations in the Balkans and in Afghanistan. Mr. Cuzzelli holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Management & Organization (Viterbo, 2011), a Master’s Degree in International Studies (Naples, 2014) and a Diploma for Graduates in International Development (London, 2016). He is also a graduate of the Italian Army Staff College (Civitavecchia, 1993 and 1996), the Joint Services Staff College (ISSMI) (Rome, 1997) and the Institute for Advanced Defence Studies (IASD) (Rome, 2009). He is a member of the Italian Society of Political Science (SISP), of the Institute for International Affairs (IAI), of the Italian Society for Military History (SISM), and of the Royal United Services Institution (RUSI).
