Research fields
Over the years, my studies and research have focused primarily on dramaturgical models and stage practices in modern and contemporary European theater, encompassing a wide range of themes: from the Commedia dell'Arte to the historical avant-garde, from Antonin Artaud to Marina Abramovic, with a special focus on the dynamics of the relationship between theatrical work and the world of dreams. I have paid particular attention to the history and spectacular forms of Neapolitan theater, both in dialect and in its artistic expressions with broader cultural influences. I have focused on phenomena more closely tied to tradition or recent productions by contemporary artists, thus tracing a path from the productions of the Marchese di Liveri at the court of the Bourbons and the great interpreters of the Neapolitan stage (Antonio Petito, Raffaele Viviani, the De Filippos, Totò) to the magmatic dramatic and stage compositions of Mimmo Borrelli.
The results of these investigations have been the subject of presentations at conferences, round tables, and lectures, and have resulted in the publication of essays, articles, and translations.
