The article deals with the last phase of Edward Said's cultural work: Freud and the Non-European (2003). It interprets it in reference to africanism and orientalism, also with a specific attention to musicology (especially to the text E. Said wrote with Daniel Barenboim, Parallels and Paradoxes, 2003).
