abstract:
Three short compositions are attributed to Jefimija: an engraving on the back of two small icons donated by the despot Uglješa probably in April 1371 to the Hilandar monastery, a prayer embroidered on the curtains of the central door of the iconostasis of the Hilandar katholikon, and the famous “Praise of Prince Lazar” (“Pohvala knezu Lazaru”), embroidered on a drape intended to cover the holy prince's tomb.
The works, in particular the text embroidered on the curtain (katapetasma) of Hilandar Cathedral, are analyzed within the framework of studies on Old Serbian and, in general, Church Slavonic literature, investigating their formal structure and rhythmic-syntactic fabric.
