Abstract:
The article was inspired by "Of culture wars and the clash of civilisations in Prehistoric Egypt – an epistemological
analysis", by Christiana Köhler. This article is focusing on some of the issues discussed by Köhler from a southern Nubian perspective. The topic of the origins of Pharaonic civilisation and of the relations with Nubia in the phase of the early state formation in Egypt is therefore discussed. Moreover the article is also aimed at stimulating debate on the methodological approach and theoretical assumptions underlying the culture-historical narratives of 5th and 4th millennia BC in the regions South of Egypt.
