abstract:
The reception of Saramago on Polish soil was always complicated since he has been considered a communist and anticlerical writer. Poland discovers Saramago in 1998, when he was awarded the Nobel Literature Prize. The article aims to analyze the difficult reception resulting essentially from the rumors and prejudices on Saramago’s political position, which obscure his literary talent and the real value of his work.
