Abstract:
This paper aims to investigate the literary elements of Mónica Ojeda’s work, with a
specific focus on the novels Nefando (2016) and Mandíbula (2018). Reaffirming that every literary
genre belonging to modernity (e.g. crime and horror) still has to work its acceptance in the
literary canon, we intend to find out which are the technical writing procedures, their aims and
how the two novels reveal their fictional features. The main objective of this work is to outline
Ojeda’s use of library and scholarly works and her intention on proposing a way of reading and
interpreting the literary and cultural tradition related to horror literature.
