Publication Date:
2019
abstract:
Published in 2013 in Algeria, and then in 2014 by Actes Sud in France, the novel Meursault, contre–enquête by Kamel Daoud, winner of the Goncourt first–novel prize in 2015, became soon a publishing event in the Arabic and Francophone literary output. It is possible to identify the genesis of this controversial novel in the articles written by Daoud in his popular and widely read column Raïna Raïkoum (Our opinion is yours), published by “Le Quotidien d’Oran”. The first hints of Meursault, contre–enquête appear on the pages of the newspaper, and represent an indispensable tool for understanding the implications of Daoud’s novel.
