Bruno e Campanella nella critica di Francesco De Sanctis

The paper Bruno and Campanella in the criticism of Francesco De Sanctis focuses on the chapter The new science of the History of Italian literature. It identifies how the broad philosophical-literary discourse of the Irpinian critic develops within a heated debate between the thought and poetics of Bruno and Campanella and is contextualized, historically and culturally, in fifteenth to seventeenth century southern Italy, taking into close account Bernardino Telesio’s filosofia nova. De Sanctis, particularly sensitive to Bruno’s poetry, also studies the pairings Campanella-Della Porta, Campanella-Galilei and Campanella-Machiavelli.
