IL CERCHIO SI ALLARGA. LA POLISEMIA DI ОКОЛО

This work is dedicated to the preposition около, its polysemy, its main semantic configurations and, from a contrastive perspective, its Italian equivalents intorno a, vicino a, accanto a, circa. The corpus-based analysis examines the main characteristics of the preposition, based on the locative spatial configuration that evolves in relation of proximity and approximation, identifying its main functions. The second part of the study is dedicated to the translations of около into Italian elicited on the basis of the Russian Italian parallel sub-corpus. The variety of translation solutions and lexical equivalences or discrepancies are reported in the form of examples throughout the study, and the results are summarised in a final table.
