AUTOMATED FACIAL RECOGNITION SYSTEM E DIRITTI FONDAMENTALI: NUOVE FRONTIERE DELLA SORVEGLIANZA DIGITALE

Tesi di Dottorato
Data di Pubblicazione:
2026
Abstract:
In the context of digital transformation, artificial intelligence is profoundly reshaping legal systems, raising significant questions regarding the protection of fundamental rights. Among the most controversial applications are facial recognition systems, which, through the use of biometric data, enable the identification of individuals, raising concerns regarding privacy, individual liberty, and the risk of surveillance.
This research analyzes these technologies using an interdisciplinary approach, integrating legal and technical perspectives, to assess their implications in key application areas and the associated risks, including algorithmic bias and discrimination. Particular attention is given to the European regulatory framework, with reference to data protection regulations and the AI Act.
The analysis of a case study highlights systemic biases and critical issues, offering guidance for responsible adoption that respects fundamental rights.
