The article deals with the work of installation by Lida Abdul, using Derridean philosophical insights in the concept of 'ruins'. Abdul's entire artistic carrier, her American exile and her return to Afganistan, is here presented as a celebration of human 'rests', providing a reading of her consistent 'petition' for new interpretations of the past and the invention of new possible future worlds
