El Caribe traducido por el Caribe y el Caribe traducido por Europa: El vasto mar de los sargazos de Jean Rhys

This article aims to analyze the translations into Spanish and into Italian of Jean Rhys’ novel Wide Sargasso Sea (1966). In particular our purpose is to analyze the Spanish version (Cátedra), the Cuban one (Casa de las Américas) and the Italian one (Adelphi), focusing on the representation, sometimes limited, that every version offers of the complex Caribbean reality. In addition we propose a reflection on the importance of cultural translation for a deep and more correct interpretation of the Otherness.
