Mirzâdeh ‘Eshqi e Iraj Mirzâ: soggettive visioni di una enqelâb-e adabi nella poesia persiana di inizio XX secolo

Academic Article
Publication Date:
2025
abstract:
During the years of the Constitutional Revolution (1905-1911) and throughout the
following decade, the notion of enqelâb-e adabi (“literary revolution”) emerged as a central theme in debates on literary modernization in Iran. Poets and writers conceptualized this “revolution” in diverse ways, each articulating their own vision of literary modernity. This paper explores the ideas of poetic modernity and literary renewal as expressed by two prominent figures: Iraj Mirzâ (1874-1926) and Mirzâdeh ‘Eshqi (1893-1924). It focuses on the prose preface of ‘Eshqi’s Nowruzinâme and selected verses from a masnavi by Iraj Mirzâ entitled Enqelâb-e adabi.
