abstract:
The aim of my work is to investigate the doctrinal speculation about love in the Hermetic tradition of late Antiquity and of the Middle Ages. We tried to carry out a comparison between Asclepius and Poimandres to show how the love in the first open to life, while in the second leads to death, and we conclude by demonstrating that the design of the erotic philosophy in the Book of twenty-four philosophers is very similar to Asclepius’ love.
