New Mythical Wor(l)ds : Transferring Myths from Folk Poetry to Contemporary Literature

In my paper, I am introducing one of the Finnish contemporary novels Sankarit by Johanna Sinisalo as a rewriting of Finnish epic Kalevala. My aim is to show some features which are characteristic when moving myths and mythological characters from folk poetry to contemporary literature and especially to postmodernist literature.
