The course aims to provide the student with a solid foundational knowledge of standard Arabic, fully covering level A1 of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). The course seeks to harmoniously develop the four language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing, in order to lay the groundwork for further study of Arabic.

The course, structured according to a communicative approach, includes lectures, seminar activities, and laboratory work. The student will be gradually exposed to a varied linguistic input, following appropriate preparatory activities, in which they will move with increasing autonomy. Students will be offered classroom activities in Arabic with a didactic-communicative nature and will be involved in the production of simple texts and guided conversations to bring them as close as possible to Arabic-speaking realities. With the instructors, listening, reading, and comprehension activities will be carried out, as well as regular conversation exercises. There will be ongoing self-assessment tests, and the e-learning platform of the Language Center of the University L’Orientale (CLAOR) will also be used.
Written and oral exam, possible midterms.

The course aims to develop basic communication skills in the four language competences (listening, speaking, reading, and writing). By the end of the course, the student will have fully reached level A1 of the Common European Framework of Reference and will be able to effectively communicate information and ideas related to the topics covered during the course, correctly using the knowledge acquired.
