Since its origins, the history of Christianity has been an integral part of

history understood in the broadest sense of the term, not only in relation

to the West but also to extra-European spaces. In fact, one can speak of

Christianity as a truly global phenomenon. The course intends to

investigate the relationships between the religious phenomenon and

political, social and cultural history starting from the birth of Christianity

up to the modern age, also taking into account the relationships between

the different Christian churches and other religions spread both in Europe

and in the rest of the world, therefore not only Islam and Judaism but

also, for example, Confucianism and Hinduism.

Particular emphasis will be given to the impact of religious phenomena on

cultural heritage.
