Course Objectives
EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOME
ALBANIAN LANGUAGE:
The Albanian Language I-II course covers the A1-A2 level for students in the 1st and 2nd year of Albanian and the B1-B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for students in the 3rd year of Albanian (curricular students).
Its objective is to expand the student's understanding of morpho- syntactic concepts in standard Arabic, building upon the knowledge acquired in the first year. Additionally, the course aims to enhance vocabulary skills by analysing formal structures in short and straightforward texts suitable for an elementary level of language proficiency. By the end of the course, students are expected to demonstrate the following abilities:
• Communicate effectively in simple and routine activities that involve exchanging basic information on familiar and common topics.
• Describe various aspects of their life and immediate surroundings using simple terms.
• Express immediate needs and requirements.
LITERATURE
Overall knowledge of Albanian cultural history and specific knowledge of Albanian literature correspond to the degree of depth of the topics covered for Level I and II.
PHILOLOGY
Overall knowledge of the philological aspects of printed editions and manuscripts in Albanian. Archives and libraries containing manuscripts and first editions of Albanian texts. Knowledge of the problems of critical editions.
APPLICATION OF KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING SKILLS.
The course aims to equip students with the necessary knowledge and methodological tools to effectively apply their knowledge and understanding in various skills, including comprehension of written texts, spoken language, written production, and oral communication. This objective will be achieved through various activities such as production, reading, translation, textual analysis, and applying general concepts to concrete cases in a personalized manner.
Students are expected to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of cultural mediation by expanding their understanding of morpho-syntactic concepts in standard Albanian, which they acquired in the first year, and by enhancing their vocabulary through analysing formal structures in short and simple texts.
In addition, the course provides knowledge and methodological tools necessary for understanding the linguistic-philological, literary, and cultural phenomena addressed during the course.
Based on the knowledge acquired during the course, the student must be able to elaborate even complex discussions.
FURTHER EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES
Autonomy of judgment:
At the end of the course, students should be able to use the acquired skills to understand and analyse simple texts selected from, among others, the Albanian press and contemporary literary production.
Communication skills:
Students should be able to effectively communicate information and ideas about the topics covered in the course, correctly using the morpho- syntactic knowledge learned in Years I and II.
Learning ability:
At the end of the course, students should have acquired sufficient skills to advance to the next level with a reasonable degree of autonomy.
The student is expected to demonstrate the ability to use the linguistic- literary fundamentals learned during the course to understand Albanian cultural themes in their interrelation with other Mediterranean cultures and formulate original paths of analysis on these themes.
The student must demonstrate the ability to use the linguistic-literary fundamentals learned during the first two years of the course in "Albanian Language" and "Albanian Literature" for the comprehension of topics related to the alphabet and the transcription of texts in Albanian and for the formulation of original paths of analysis dealing with these topics.
The student must gradually apply himself, with texts suitable for Level I, to transcribing and translating texts from Albanian into Italian.
Course Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of Albanian history, culture and geography, for which appropriate handouts will be provided.
Teaching Methods
The Albanian language course will include lectures in addition to seminar activities and exercises that include listening, reading, comprehension, as well as speaking activities.
The exercises will be carried out with the help of media and online teaching tools (moodel and teams; Albanian TV channels)
To test the skills acquired, students will be requested to do individual papers or research on specific topics.
Self-assessment tests will be conducted in itinere.
Assessment Methods
ALBANIAN LANGUAGE
Preliminary written test (without awarding a grade) with the reader to test basic linguistic knowledge.
Oral test (with grade - the assessment is expressed in 30ths) with the lecturer.
The oral test is designed to ascertain the level of knowledge on the various levels covered during the course: translations from Albanian into Italian and exercises to verify knowledge of grammar and literature.
At the oral test, the student must present a didactic project, collective or individual, on topics addressed during the course or the exercises (assessed for coherence, ability to analyse and synthesise content, and correct use of terminology).
The examination will be held in Italian and Albanian.
