Course Objectives
Expected learning outcomes
At the end of the training course, the student will have to demonstrate that he/she can interpret facilitated texts adapted to A2 level; that he/she knows and remembers and - where necessary - applies the vocabulary encountered during theoretical and practical lessons and the morphosyntactic forms studied to communication based on everyday topics; that he/she can apply and analyse grammatical rules in written and oral communication.
Ability to apply knowledge and understanding
1. On completion of the course, students will have become more familiar with the Russian language and will have learnt to reflect on its morphosyntactic structures in different text units.
2. Students will have also developed the language skills of oral and written reception and production, corresponding to level A2, producing texts on everyday life topics. They will apply the learned structures in translating from Italian into Russian and vice versa.
3. For written production they will know how to use the bilingual dictionary (print and online, and other online resources such as kartaslov).
In summary: At the end of the course of study the student will have to demonstrate that he/she possesses the basic theoretical tools to adequately reflect and describe the system (phonology, morphology, syntax, vocabulary) of Russian and its linguistic functions, also from a comparative perspective with Italian or his/her mother tongue. In addition, the student will be able to produce and understand linear and cohesive texts on familiar, social and cultural topics, and to interact by handling simplified communicative exchanges on guided topics.

Autonomy of judgement:
Students will be able to self-correct and reflect on the linguistic norm.
Communicative skills:
At the end of the second year, students will be able to interact by producing monologues and simple dialogues: explaining what they do and where they live, listing favourite interests and activities they usually do; talking about their family, home and town, their habits, travel, interests and passions. For written production, students, paying attention to Russian spelling, compose short, cohesive, on-track or guided descriptions on everyday topics using vocabulary corresponding to level A2.
Learning skills:
At the end of the course, learners will be able to update their acquired skills and independently retrieve course-related materials online or in manuals of their choice.
Course Prerequisites
An A1 level of proficiency in the Russian language, acquired during the first year, is required at entry. That is, learners must have acquired basic writing, oral communication and comprehension skills, having fully assimilated the Cyrillic alphabet and the phonology of the Russian language, together with the basic rules of noun declension and verb conjugation. Learners must be able to distinguish cursive and print, read without graphic accent, look up terms in the bilingual dictionary.
Therefore, the Russian Language 2 examination is conditional on passing the Russian Language 1 examination for each degree course.
Teaching Methods
The teacher's course consists of 48 hours of lectures on morphology and rudiments of descriptive syntax throughout the semester (september-december/january). The course is flanked by 80 hours of language exercises (20 weeks) held by native speakers and mainly aimed at reinforcing oral comprehension and production skills. At the end of the course, a final test will be administered to check the level of written preparation achieved by the students and, if necessary, to assess appropriate corrections. Other tests may be administered during the year for in-progress self-assessment.
Assessment Methods
The examination consists of written and oral.
Written examination:
1) Text on Moodle including: completion of sentences with the missing elements required in the instructions
2) write a text in Russian language
3) Audio test
Oral examination:
Reading and translation of a passage from 30 pages that the student prepares independently at home;
On the basis of the text, questions will be asked to test preparation on the topics of Year I and II.
The oral test also includes conversation on the topics studied with the mother-tongue teacher, during which conversation the description of a photograph or image will also be asked in order to check the learning of vocabulary and morphosyntactic structures covered during the course and the practical activity.
