Syllabus

Course Objectives

EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES

The workshop will consist of lectures and practical exercises to introduce the basic operations necessary for the development of systems for digital humanities.


ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING

At the end of the course, the student will be in possession of the necessary tools to be able to deal with the following topics:

- Automatic image processing (acquisition, enhancement and labelling).

- Acquisition and processing of shooting using RTI techniques


AUTONOMY OF JUDGEMENT

At the end of the workshop the student will be able to:

- Carry out an analysis of an image in order to extract useful information

- Acquire the basic notions necessary to take photographs using RTI techniques.


COMMUNICATION SKILLS

The student will have the ability to illustrate in oral or written form the process of automatic image processing and the qualitative and quantitative interpretation of the results obtained.


LEARNING SKILLS

By the end of the workshop the student should have acquired the skills to

- Continuously update and refine their digital skills.

- Critically examine and evaluate digital innovations and their potential application to the field of digital humanities.




Course Prerequisites

Basic computer skills (MS Office, Internet).


Teaching Methods

The course illustrates, with lectures and practical exercises, some computer techniques used in the field of Digital Humanities. The development of a project, including a group project, related to a case study is planned.



Assessment Methods

The final examination will consist of the completion of a project on one of the topics studied at the candidate's choice, and an oral examination for the presentation and discussion of the project, as well as for the evaluation of the knowledge acquired during the laboratory.
