Course Objectives

EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES

The Spanish Language III course aims firstly to recapitulate the previous academic year's knowledge and consolidate the learning and production skills of the four linguistic and communicative macro-skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing) corresponding to Level B2 advanced of the European Framework of Reference for Languages. The aim of the course is to provide the theoretical-practical tools necessary to translate texts of various kinds from Spanish into Italian.


CAPABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING

The course aims to provide the knowledge and methodological tools necessary to compose different types of written texts in Spanish, to adequately translate literary texts, newspaper articles, screenplays, reports from Spanish into Italian and to enrich the student's knowledge of everyday Spanish.


FURTHER LEARNING EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES

Autonomy of judgement: At the end of the course, students will have to demonstrate that they can autonomously make the right choices both in written and oral production activities and in the translation of various types of texts from Spanish into Italian.

Communicative skills: The student will have to demonstrate the ability to communicate in Spanish in a clear and appropriate manner, using correct morphology and syntax. The student must also demonstrate the ability to identify, communicate and revise the contents of a complex text in Spanish of various kinds.

Ability to learn: The student must demonstrate autonomy in learning and applying the linguistic structures covered in the course and must be able to use the tools of analysis in the current use of the Spanish language.


Course Prerequisites

- Knowledge of the phonetic, morphological and lexical phenomena of the Spanish language;

- Knowledge of the morphological and syntactic structures of the Spanish language;

- Knowledge of the verbal syntax (use of modes and tenses) of the Spanish language


Teaching Methods

One part of the course will consist of lectures focusing on some aspects of translation theory, on loans and casts, on the translation of the various text types of the Spanish language. A second part will focus on different types of exercises (translations from Spanish into Italian and vice versa, compositions in Spanish, grammar and syntax exercises). The exercises will be both individual and group.


Assessment Methods

The examination consists of a written test on the Moodle platform and a subsequent oral test. To pass the written test, a minimum score of 35 out of 50 answers must be obtained. The mark will be expressed in letters. The oral examination focuses on the bibliographical reference texts and is aimed at ascertaining the mastery of the language and the functional adequacy of the exposition as well as the ability to recognise, differentiate and analyse the various types of text analysed in their own peculiarities.

The language of the examination is Spanish
