Abstract:
This article refers to the meeting of Goethe and Weininger in Urmuz's work, starting from the conception of the eternal feminine and its alienating otherness. This article aims to present some examples of ekphrasis in Urmuz's work, between sacred love and profane love. Comparing the texts to visual artworks, it is possible to observe that Urmuz employs this particular rhetorical description, proposing original and poetic scenarios and, at the same time, imposing a new cultural awareness and an innovative sense in literary creation. His works can be considered as a sort of mental kaleidoscope which produces images to be forcefully introduced into the language, transferring the chromatism of the visual appearance into the written word. This word brings together the visual and the sound aspects of the literary sign, marked by a strong load of cultural memory.
