ÎMPOTRIVA „CAVALERILOR MODERNISMULUI”. GEO BOGZA ȘI GRUPUL „ALGE” VS „CANTILENA” LUI DAN BOTTA

The present article, through a close comparison with the poem Cantilena by Dan Botta, one of the greatest exponents of the Romanian poetic hermeticism, intends to highlight, with the programmatic article The Poetry We want to do, signed by Geo Bogza, Gherasim Luca, Paul Păun, Perahim, the stakes of the Romanian poetic and revolutionary avant-gardes. The aim of these avant-garde poets was to pursue the idea of political commitment and to make a common front against the spread of fascism and Nazism in Romania in the 1930s. The poets of Alge and Geo Bogza aimed at creating a literature that militates “against oppression” in critical opposition against “abstract and intellectualistic poetry, the knights of modernism”.
