Expected learning outcomes

General objectives of the course:
The course aims to provide foundational knowledge of the Vietnamese language at A1 and A2 levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), along with basic insights into Vietnamese culture, in line with the topics addressed in the syllabus.

Ability to apply knowledge and comprehension:
By the end of the course, students will be able to understand and apply basic pronunciation rules, and to be able to produce simple oral and written communications on familiar, everyday topics.

Further expected learning outcomes

Making judgements:
Students will develop the ability to make conscious morphosyntactic choices and to engage with culturally diverse communication contexts with increasing critical awareness and autonomy of judgement.

Communication skills:
Upon completion of the course, students should be able to convey basic information in Vietnamese clearly and effectively. They will also be able to write using diacritical marks accurately, both by hand and with a keyboard.

Learning skills:
Students will acquire a foundational understanding of the key features of the Vietnamese language, particularly correct pronunciation rules, enabling them to continue their language studies at more advanced levels with a certain degree of autonomy.
