L’Unione Europea e l’Italia nella contesa per l’America Latina: competizione inter-egemonica, risorse strategiche e ridefinizione degli equilibri regionali
ProjectThis research project analyzes the role of Latin America within the context of intensifying competition between the United States and China, as well as the implications of these dynamics for the European Union and Italy. In an international landscape marked by growing polarization, competition for strategic resources, and the reconfiguration of global value chains, the region is gaining increasing political and economic significance. Employing a multidisciplinary and comparative approach, the research will examine key political, economic, and diplomatic transformations in the area, with the aim of identifying opportunities for cooperation in sectors such as economic security, energy transition, technological innovation, and cultural diplomacy. The objective is to define tools and priorities that can strengthen the role of Italy and the European Union in their relations with Latin America, thereby contributing to the consolidation of European strategic autonomy and the development of more effective foreign and cooperation policies. The findings will provide scenario analyses and actionable recommendations to support decision-making processes in Italy and the European Union.
