Discourses and scenarios for metropolitan cities. Notes on Neapolitan metropolitan narratives.
The contribution is framed within a recent reflection on critical aspects of Neapolitan metropolitan governance. To advance through the theme of narratives, which bring out further discrepancies between the real urban region and the administered territory, we will frame Metropolitan Cities by dwelling on elements deemed problematic considering the discourses that have punctuated the institutionalization of these government entities and of the debate on new regionalism and metropolitan question in Italy. Considering the dense and complex spatialities of the Metropolitan City of Naples, attention will be focused on planning documents, with special emphasis on discourses and the narrated territory, including through visual strategies, in order to convey its metropolitan identity.
