abstract:
The chapter analyses the narrative roles of the weather as an aspect of landscapes of war in Livy's Ab Urbe Condita. It focuses on athmospheric phenomena like fog and rain and shows that they can effect narrative suspense, take part in focalisation, be charged with symbolic meanings, or be used to charatcterise historical actors.
