Die Konjunktur der Komödie im China der Gegenwart. Stücke und Zugänge

This book intends to be an approach to comedies in Chinese theatre and to the comical in China more broadly. Despite being an important aspect of contemporary Chinese culture, comedy remains largely unexplored in research. At the core of this book are six dramas in commented translation, all of them are preceded by introductions written by leading scholars from the fields of Chinese and Theatre studies. A chapter on the comedy in Chinese theatre culture further proposes a historical perspective.
