Caratteri e geografie della memoria napoleonica in Italia

Within the reconstruction of a geography of Napoleonic memory in Italy, a series of elements cannot be neglected: first of all the close and particular relationship between Napoleon and the peninsula and, above all, the Mediterranean dimension of the Napoleonic perspective which, therefore, could not leave out of consideration the French presence in Italy. A presence that, from Milan to Tuscany, from Rome to Naples, up to the Muratian epilogue of Pizzo, is now universally acknowledged by historiography as the origin of the Italian national Risorgimento.
