The essay offers a first linguistic survey on Japanese cartoons arrived in Italy between the Seventies and
Eighties. After an introduction to the cartoons, and the presentation of the corpus of texts belonging
to the gender of robottoni as Grendizer and Mazinger, the article seeks to highlight the typical lexical
features of the technical-scientific language, emphasizing also the loftiness of the register linguistic.
