abstract:
The essay deals with human rights in China and in particular with the death penalty but from a different angle than usual. Telling the story of a man condemned to death, as it has been found in a obituary of a Chinese newspaper, the article intends to present a more detailed understanding of some aspects of the reform process in the field of human rights that China is making, and to concentrate the attention on some issues on which too often insufficient information does not favor a true understanding.
