The short story x and the novel eros share several traits, such as Verga’s reflections on the causes
and effects of love, very present themes in the writer’s youth research. The proximity between
the two texts makes us think that the two drafts have been designed in close moments. This paper
intends to exemplify the issue and to offer an interpretive hypothesis, through the recognition of
the connections between the two texts.
