Chapter
Publication Date:
2015
abstract:
In 2014, we commemorate the 60th anniversary of Klement Kralik’s death, who was the director of the Girls' High School in Olomouc. Klement Kralik was an important personality of the pedagogical, journalistic, and linguistic life of the town of Olomouc in the first half of the 20th century The authors of this contribution describe the most important milestones in his life, especially his pedagogical activities, using not yet researched Kralik’s personal archival records. The authors also emphasize his Wallachian dialect research, translations, and publishing activities. The most important are his studies on the specificities of the dialect of the Kelč area. Klement Kralik’s interests were heterogeneous: he worked in popular education, was a member of the Municipal Committee for culture and education and member of the Council of the Czech library; he devoted himself to the Health and Social care of the students and participated at the creation of the Student house of Olomouc. The authors work with primary and secondary data, which are analyzed and evaluated globally. The aim of the paper is to contextualize the life and work of Klement Kralik.
