abstract:
This paper deals with gender and grammar, in terms of Suzanne Romaine’s Communicating Gender, an indispensable book on the gender and linguistics debate. Considering both a definition of gender as a communicative process and the awareness of the grammar of gender, this contribution will be functional to the application of such concepts in translation. The paper relates theory and practice through some instantiations taken from contemporary English and American literary texts.
