Trial Trenches at Site no 215

The author in the volume devoted to the joint Italian/Russian/Turkmenian activities in south Turkmenistan entitled Archaeological Map of the Murghab delta is dealing with trial trenches on the site listed as no 215 of the archaeological map. The site located about 12 km north from Gyaur Kala, represents most probably, an important military outpost defending at north the oasis. The square plan, the possibility of the existence a double curtain of walls and a special construction always quadrangular out warding from the given perimeter, give particular importance to a site, in time and respectively located at c. 1.5 km north from other two sites which should have represented a defensive chain of fortresses.
