abstract:
The author outlines the history of the nomadic steppe people through the historical and the archaeological evidence. Starting from the origin of the “Animal Style” originated within the Tagar and the Karasuk cultures in south Russia, the author is dealing with the pre-Scythians, the Cimmerians, the Sauromatians and the Sarmatians which across Central Asia have given evidence of their original and autonomous production through the ages.
